Food (Boston Globe) - Umani Ronchi
In an article entitled "A spicy charmer from Italy", Michael Apstein writes about the Rosso Conero "San Lorenzo" from Umani Ronchi: "Italy still harbors many undervalued wine regions, and Rosso Conero, on the Adriatic in the region of the Marches, is one such…The Umani Ronchi estate is one of the best producers in Marches, and makes a stellar wine from its hillside vineyard, San Lorenzo…The San Lorenzo is made with 100% Montepulciano grapes, from vines whose yield is limited, to concentrate flavor. It's aged for 18 months in large Slavonian oak casks. The old oak softens the wine without imparting a woody flavor. Robust and spicy, the San Lorenzo is a mouth filling wine ideal with hearty stews or robust pasta dishes."
Italian Wines And Spirits - Bocchino Grappa
In an article on premium grappas, this prestigious publication featured the grappas of Bocchino and in particular discussed the Grappa Moscato D'Asti. This grappa, "honored at the International Wine and Spirit Competition…shows the virtues of the most typical grape of the hills around Canelli, Moscato. It is the most difficult to distill because its pomace is extremely delicate…Because of its noble intensity, this highly prized (grappa)…has an elegant flavor, with an ingratiating and particularly seductive background, that caresses the palate…It is worth repeating that this grappa is highly particular and fine, intended for the most refined palates…"
