Decanter - Umani Ronchi

Tom Maresca writes about "Rustic Reds" from Italy and in this article mentions Umani Ronchi twice. The first mention is in the section discussing the wines from Abruzzo and there includes Umani Ronchi in the select group of Montepulciano D'Abruzzo producers saying…" Producers like…Umani Ronchi…all turn out smooth, refreshing, food-friendly basic bottlings that one can drink with pleasure day in and day out…" In the second section of the article, Maresca discusses the nature of Rosso Conero, produced in the region of the Marches. He says that, "Probably contrary to most expectations, the Rosso Conero is the more highly esteemed wine in the region…Rosso Conero makes a richer, more complex impression on the palate and seems to better reward aging… especially Umani Ronchi all make lovely versions. Indeed, Umani Ronchi's more complex Rosso Conero bottling - San Lorenzo, a single-vineyard selection - is particularly noteworthy for its polish and depth."
