A letter from Villa Vignamaggio, Greve in Chianti

Dear Partners,
In a difficult moment for all those dealing with daily selling, I will try to help by giving you some good news.

The choices of Mr. Nunziante regarding the running of the estate, his constant and continuative focus on quality, his passion for Vignamaggio, together with the great commitment of the Enologists Francesco Naldi and Giorgio Marone, haven't missed out in producing the desired results, and even for the vintages recently presented, we have been granted the awards summarized below:

Chianti Classico Riserva Monna Lisa 2000 Decanter Magazine, 4 stars

We also have news of an excellent rating obtained by Chianti Classico 2001 at a wine tasting in Switzerland of which we don't yet have a printed copy.

I take advantage of this occasion to give you some more news.

This Autumn we have been busy with a grape harvest that we can't hesitate to define very good, but that will be followed by a very poor olive harvest; the grapes have been picked to perfectly healthy with an optimal maturation point. The wines that we will obtain will certainly be rich and elegant, even if in reduced quantities according to our potential production.

I would also like to bring your attention on the "3 Glasses" obtained by Cabernet 2000 and the "5 Grapes" of Obsession 2000: In terms of quantity the IGT wines represent the 7-8% of our production, therefore, at least for now, I ask you to please keep this percentage in mind while ordering our products. I would prefer not to do allotments because in some cases the quantities would be ridicules; I assure you that we will try not to disappoint anyone. Francesco has prepared a technical description of the new vintages or sale that you will find together with this letter.

Another "little" news: in 2004 we are going to celebrate the 600th Anniversary of Chianti Wine production. In fact we have a letter (now in the museum of Prato) written in 1404, stating the selling of Chianti wine from Vignamaggio to the famous merchant from Prate: Francesco Datini.

The anniversary will be announced on both national and international press and we have already started with the organization. We will also release a 2001 Special Edition bottle with a celebrative label, but will give you further information about this later on.

In the meantime I send you my best wishes for your activity.
