The Castellani family
Michele Castellani & Figli was established in 1945 when its founder Michele Castellani, decided to dedicate most of his life to what had always been his great passion, the vine. With his entrepreneurial skills and enthusiasm, he laid the foundation to build what at first was a small cellar, a little "laboratory", where he spent his days creating ever better products. With the same spirit and pleasure and thanks to his father's teaching, Sergio has carried on the wine business and manages the family-run company through all the wine making stages: selection and harvest of grapes, vinification, drying, and aging of the great Valpolicella wines. Sergio has built a state of the art winery and aging cellars with oak barrels where his renowned Amarone and Recioto age for years.
During the visit to the cellar, you are entranced by the state-of-the-art equipment, yet well aware of the great and ancient tradition of winemaking. Rich in passion and creativity, Michele Castellani is known on the domestic and overseas markets with two lines of estate bottled, world-class products: the "Ca' del Pipa" selection and the "I Castei" line from the vineyards at the top of Sergio's property. Both selections include Amarone, Recioto and Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso. Under the "Ca' del Pipa" selection, Sergio has also released a luscious Cabernet called "Capitel" and a limited production, young Amarone, called "Sergio".
