The Ferrari family
Elisabetta and Gabriele Ferrari own Le Sorgenti. The estate is located on the hills surrounding Florence, in the appellation known as "Chianti Colli Fiorentini". The XVI century villa is surrounded by trees, peaceful silence and springs of natural water (Le Sorgenti means "The Springs" in Italian). The estate consists of about 50 hectares of land (about 125 acres) on which grow mainly vines and olive trees. The vineyards lie at a height between 200 and 400 meters above sea level (650 to 1,300 feet). They face the city of Florence and the peaceful Arno River valley.

The soil is rich of stone and lime while the sun exposure is very favorable and can be utilized to suit each grape individually: north-east/west for the white grapes; south-east/west for the red grapes. All the vineyards are cultivated with the
Trained Spur Cordon System with a grass carpet between the rows. The grape varieties are Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Chardonnay. During harvest, all the bunches are hand-picked in order to select the perfectly ripened grapes. Custom trolleys are used to transport the grapes to the cellar.
Such care for the details is fully confirmed by the great ratings that Le Sorgenti has been receiving internationally: 90s from the Wine Spectator and Robert Parker as well as the 'Best Red Wine' award (International Wine Challenge - London 2004) for the 2001 Scirus, chosen ahead of over six thousand prestigious wines from around the world.
Gabriele and Filippo Ferrari follow the entire vinification process with the consultancy of Lapo Baldini (agronomist) and Paolo Caciorgna (noted enologist).
